Unfortunately, it is not always possible to organise trips with your dog to some destinations<\/strong>, but neither is it easy to choose to leave him or her at home, not to mention that sometimes it is just not possible. And then, let’s face it, it’s not fair to be forced to give up travelling by not being able to bring your beloved dog. Fortunately, however, there are several dog-friendly beaches in Salento that allow you to enjoy a holiday together with your faithful companion; the important thing is to know the regulations and respect them.<\/p>\n

Let’s take a look together at what the regional law says about the access of dogs to beaches in Apulia<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Apulia guarantees access to beaches to pets accompanied by their owner or other keeper provided that safety rules are respected in accordance with the law<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Animals are only allowed to access the beaches and stay on the identified and signposted free beaches and beach resorts, which have obtained the concession in compliance with health and hygiene regulations. The owner of the dog must have a valid health certificate.<\/strong><\/p>\n

On the contrary, animals that are not up to date with vaccinations, dogs with aggressive syndrome and females in heat are not allowed access.<\/p>\n

It is also compulsory for the dog to have a microchip or identification tattoo or other suitable document in order not to incur administrative penalties.<\/p>\n

Guide dogs for the blind, on the other hand, are always allowed access.<\/strong><\/p>\n

What are the rules to be observed at dog friendly beaches in Salento?<\/h3>\n

  1. Dogs must always stay within the perimeter of the beach umbrellas of the beach resort or in any case close to the owner; it is forbidden to leave them free and unattended;<\/li>\n
  2. It is forbidden to enter areas equipped and intended for other uses, such as children’s play areas. It is important to check that no no-entry signs are posted;<\/li>\n
  3. The dog owner guarantees the state of health and well-being of the dog, so it will be his responsibility to declare this to be true.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    Free beaches for dogs in Salento: how to behave?<\/h3>\n

    According to current regulations, those using the free areas must be equipped with a dustpan and bags for the collection of the animal’s droppings, which must be removed and deposited in the appropriate containers. If the dog pees, on the other hand, plenty of seawater must be thrown in to disperse it.
    \nDogs may also always bathe in the custody of their owner.<\/p>\n

    Equipped dog beaches in Salento: the rules<\/h3>\n

      And can dogs bathe in the sea?<\/strong> Of course! More than one dog is allowed at the same time in the maximum number established by the municipal authorisation according to the size of the area and always in the presence of the owner.<\/p>\n

      We have therefore understood that it is possible to go to the seaside with your pet as long as you respect the rules and always use common sense and respect for others. There are many dog-friendly beaches in Salento<\/strong>, but we believe more can be done to allow everyone to go to the sea with your dog.<\/p>\n

      Eden Salento Agri Beach in Pescoluse<\/h3>\n

      Eden Salento is an agri-beach in Pescoluse, Salve marina, the only beach equipped for dogs on the Ionian coast. Here you will find beach umbrellas, sunbeds and gazebos both on the beach and on the beachfront lawn. The services included for the furry little ones are: a shower dedicated to them, a bucket for water, kibbles, a walking area, hygienic bags, a play area and a dog trainer available.<\/p>\n

      Soleluna Lido Bau Beach Salento<\/h3>\n

      Soleluna is a beach resort in San Cataldo, which allows our four-legged friends to enjoy the sea by swimming at any time, refresh themselves with special showers, have access to the reserved area of the restaurant, have a bowl of fresh water, inflatables in the sea, and a 118 veterinary service.<\/p>\n

      Lido Coiba<\/h3>\n

      Still on the Adriatic coast, we find the Coiba Lido in San Foca, a fantastic beach club equipped with sunbeds, beach umbrellas, bowls, and a reserved area allowing you to relax at the sea with your furry friends from morning until sunset.<\/p>\n

      Free dog beaches in Salento (2023)<\/h2>\n

      In addition to the beach resorts, there are several free beaches where dogs are allowed. It is important to always check that there are no prohibitions preventing entry, and it is good to remember to keep your dog under control at all times to avoid annoying or endangering other people.<\/p>\n

      • Porto Selvaggio<\/strong> is the perfect place to spend time with your dog. The small pebble beach is embraced by the thick vegetation of the pine forest, which provides shade and relaxation for our four-legged friends at any time.<\/li>\n
      • In Marina di Mancaversa there is the Cavalli beach<\/strong>, small but perfect for the furry ones, but also the beaches of Paterte and Tabarano allow you to bring your pets.<\/li>\n
      • San Foca<\/strong> has several beaches that allow dogs, the most chaotic one, which we do not recommend, is the beach just below the village, which in high season is full of people. However, the Marangi Beach and the San Basilio Beach, are wilder and more suitable for our furry friends.<\/li>\n
      • Torre Specchia<\/strong> is a very quiet location near San Foca with free beaches where it is possible to bring dogs.<\/li>\n
      • Torre Vado and Posto Vecchio<\/strong> are two small towns in the marina of Salve and have dog friendly beaches that are wild and far from the chaos of the more touristy Salento locations, but no less beautiful.<\/li>\n
      • The Torre San Giovanni and Torre Mozza<\/strong> dog friendly beaches are wide and ideal for spending holidays with your dog in Salento!<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
