Finally, the launch of a cutting-edge project has been announced, in which Apulia is the main character: the Angel\u2019s Flight is coming to Salento<\/strong>, right along our beautiful coastline.<\/p>\n

If we are already proud of our natural heritage, in a few years we could be even prouder. Thanks to an initiative of the municipalities, in fact, the coast will be revitalised with more than 25 kilometres of trails, three angel flights and cycle paths. This large and revolutionary project, worth over 3 million euros, was presented last March by the municipalities of Corsano, Tiggiano and Tricase.<\/strong><\/p>\n

But let’s take a step back:<\/p>\n

What is the angel\u2019s flight?<\/h2>\n

The angel\u2019s flight<\/strong> is an adrenaline-pumping experience, which allows you to experience the thrill of flying while suspended from a steel cable.\u00a0 You can usually do it alone or in pairs, as long as the sum of your weights does not exceed the total allowed for two people to \u201cfly\u201d. The angel\u2019s flight is not actually a dangerous experience. In fact, even 12-year-olds and up can do it. You are equipped with a helmet, belt, harness and hooks to harness yourself to the steel cables, which allow you to launch yourself into the void, safely.<\/p>\n

A real flight in a wonderful setting, amidst rocks and lush vegetation. It is a unique experience that already attracts many tourists in Basilicata, precisely between Pietrapertosa<\/strong> and Castelmezzano<\/strong>, in the province of Potenza. Apparently, however, the angel\u2019s flight may soon land in Salento, among the sublime coastal landscapes, and become a new tourist attraction.<\/p>\n

Angel\u2019s flight in Salento: the \u201cTiggiano al centro\u201d project<\/h2>\n

The project presented by the Salento municipalities is called \u201cTiggiano al centro<\/strong>\u201d and aims to enhance a stretch of coastline of around ten kilometres. The most interesting thing is that the angel\u2019s flight in Salento may not be just one but three, and it does not end there. The project also envisages other sporting and natural attractions: such as a walkway, Tibetan bridges, astronomical and environmental observation centres, facilities for education and outreach, and the upgrading of more than 25 km of paths.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The project was presented on March 10th 2022 and is currently still under approval: Invitalia, ministries and the Apulia Region will also be on the evaluation team, as part of the Integrated Development Contracts. It is not long, however, before we find out its fate: the answer should arrive in May. Let’s face it, we are all on tenterhooks to find out whether the Angel’s Flight will be realised in Salento!<\/p>\n

The aim of the project is to protect and enhance the natural heritage of the Adriatic coastline, in the stretch covering the municipalities of Tricase, Tiggiano and Corsano, within the Otranto – Santa Maria di Leuca and Bosco di Tricase. A programme that aims to strengthen slow, sustainable and quality tourism, which can contribute to the deseasonalisation process.<\/p>\n
