We begin our long walk by describing the various environments:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"ul1\">\n<li class=\"li1\"><b>The Greenhouse<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"p1\">At the entrance, we notice a greenhouse with <b>2000 tropical plants<\/b> from all parts of the world. Built of iron and polycarbonate, it is <b>16 metres high<\/b> with controlled temperature and humidity. Here the <b>tall cactus plants<\/b> take us back to the western films of our childhood where their silhouette transported us to the arid Mexican deserts crossed by dusty wagons and angry Indians.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-19870 size-large aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.hdsalento.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/cactus-1024x656.jpg\" alt=\"La serra\" width=\"1024\" height=\"656\" title=\"\"><\/p>\n<ul class=\"ul1\">\n<li class=\"li1\"><b>The Rock Garden<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"p1\">Full of wonder and eager for discovery, we arrive at the rock garden in a typically Salento <b>rural setting<\/b>, where we can admire several varieties of <b>Agave <\/b>and as many <a href=\"https:\/\/it.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Opuntia\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span class=\"s1\"><b>Opuntias<\/b><\/span><\/a>, all surrounded by <b>Cactaceae<\/b>.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-19871 size-full aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.hdsalento.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/Giardino-roccioso_Particolare-3_small-600x600-1.jpg\" alt=\"Il Giardino Roccioso\" width=\"600\" height=\"600\" title=\"\"><\/p>\n<ul class=\"ul1\">\n<li class=\"li1\"><b>The Natural Pond<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"p1\">The guide takes us on to the<b> natural Papyrus and Water Lily Pond<\/b>, which collects rainwater and gives life to <b>Bamboos<\/b>, <b>Hyacinths <\/b>and <b>Irises<\/b>, a little glimpse of ancient Egypt.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-19872 size-full aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.hdsalento.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/il-Laghetto-Naturale.jpg\" alt=\"il Laghetto Naturale\" width=\"600\" height=\"600\" title=\"\"><\/p>\n<ul class=\"ul1\">\n<li class=\"li1\"><b>The Salento Mediterranean Garden<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"p1\">This part is characterised by the typical plants of the <b>Mediterranean Scrub<\/b> and is therefore rich in: <b>Conifers, Broom, Juniper, Olearia, Strawberry Trees, Myrtle and Thyme;<\/b> then put on display we notice <b>70 varieties of Medicinal Plants <\/b>where special tags indicate their curative properties.<\/p>\n<ul class=\"ul1\">\n<li class=\"li1\"><b>Il giardino dei Semplici<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"p1\">This part is called Dei Semplici because it was once used for grazing livestock. Today it gives space to intensely perfumed plants such as <b>Mint, Kermes, Lavender and Camphor<\/b>, which are also medicinal, and can be used for mild intestinal ailments.<\/p>\n<ul class=\"ul1\">\n<li class=\"li1\"><b>The Rose Garden<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"p1\">A part of this show is dedicated to the Roses, with a<b> Rose Garden<\/b> that has a <b>hundred or so varieties<\/b>, which during the flowering period manage to intoxicate us with colours and smells.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-19873 size-full aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.hdsalento.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/il-roseto.jpg\" alt=\"il roseto\" width=\"600\" height=\"600\" title=\"\"><\/p>\n<ul class=\"ul1\">\n<li class=\"li1\"><b>The Holm oaks wood<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"p1\"><b>Salento&#8217;s holm oaks wood <\/b>is another corner of this extraordinary garden. Here we can admire <span class=\"s1\"><b>centuries-old sentinel oaks<\/b><\/span> that over the centuries have provided <b>shelter for thousands of migratory birds <\/b>and wealth for mankind.
