During the Byzantine era, the place hosted a community of Basilians who built a necropolis and a church, of which fragments of frescoes remain today, among which the figure of a bearded saint, perhaps Saint Paul, stands out.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The first documents that mention Caprarica date back to the 11th century, when it was a small farmhouse under the jurisdiction of the County of Lecce and the Principality of Taranto.
