The guards, through smoke signals and other methods, warned the nearby towers, castles and fortified farms in the hinterland, which had to be ready to defend themselves.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In <\/span><b>1578<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, the tower was further reinforced with a piece of artillery, thanks to the intervention of the mayor of Borgagne, <\/span><b>Andrea de Jacobo<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.
