Diso and Scorrano Lights of Salento

Salento, religious faith is still very strong. Each municipality celebrates its Patron Saint with a few days of festivities. Besides street food, band concerts and the unmissable fireworks, the lights of Salento have an ancient tradition. Villages change their skin by dressing in thousands of coloured lights, transforming the nights into an oriental fairy tale.

Scorrano Luminarie del Salento

When it comes to lights, one cannot help but think of the lights of Scorrano, a town in the Salento hinterland 30 km away from Lecce, considered the World Capital of lights. The Parature (another name for the lights) in Scorrano have distant roots, the legend…, or reality has it that in the late 17th century the Madonna appeared to an old woman promising the cure from the plague of all its inhabitants. As a sign of gratitude, a small light would be lit in every window. Since then, lights have been lit in Scorrano in honour of the Saint.

Diso and Scorrano Lights of Salento
The lights of Salento in Scorrano can be admired from July 5th to 10th every year, in honour of Santa Domenica. During the “nights of light”, the town becomes a little Las Vegas, and it is no exaggeration to say that one gets drunk without drinking! For the record, also Diso, another small town in Salento, flaunts its lights in honour of St. Philip and St. James, creating the magic of the night.

Diso - Luminarie del Salento

But words in this case are not enough, beauty cannot be written down, so the advice for those who find themselves in Salento on those days is to go there and enjoy its magic. Behind this show there are men who, with art and dedication, make it all happen, let us mention some of the companies involved:

-Ditta De Cagna Maglie
-Mariano Scorrano Luminarie
-Mariano Light of Corigliano d’Otranto
-Nuova Elettro Luminarie of San Donaci

These artists are a source of pride for Salento, but above all for our Italian spirit.

Scorrano 2025

July 8, 2025

Festa delle luci di Scorrano 2025. Arriviamo in pullman alle 21.30. Ci lascia fin dove è possibile circolare, ovvero a 300 Mt dal luna Park, che è la prima cosa che vediamo di

Scorrano. Seguono almeno 1,5 km a

piedi in leggera salita fra le bancarelle

per arrivare al centro del paese, dove

dopo tutta sta sfacchinata ci

attendono 3 (Tre di numero)

installazioni luminose.
