Sant’Isidoro, also shown on maps as San Isidoro or S. Isidoro, is located in the heart of Salento’s Ionian coast, in the province of Lecce, in southern Puglia. It belongs to the municipality of Nardò, but it is closer to seaside towns such as Porto Cesareo, just 5 kilometers away.
This small village looks directly out over the Ionian Sea, offering one of the most charming beaches in the area—protected by a 16th-century coastal tower and embraced by calm, shallow water that’s perfect even for children.
How to get to Sant’Isidoro (Salento)
Getting to Sant’Isidoro is easy thanks to its strategic location along a very popular stretch of coast. Connections are available, but a car remains the most convenient choice if you want full freedom to get around.
- By car:
If you’re coming from Lecce, take the SS101 toward Gallipoli, exit at Nardò, and then follow the signs to Sant’Isidoro. The journey takes about 30 minutes.
From Brindisi (home to the nearest airport), it takes about 1 hour.
- By train:
You can reach Lecce by Freccia or Intercity train, then take a bus or a private transfer to the Ionian coast.
- By plane:
The most convenient airport is Brindisi–Casale (BDS). From there, you can rent a car or book a transfer to Sant’Isidoro.
- By bus:
In summer, several tourist lines connect Lecce, Porto Cesareo, and Gallipoli with S. Isidoro, Puglia. In particular, you can use Salento in Bus Line 104, but we recommend checking timetables in advance.
Parking in Sant’Isidoro (Lecce)
During the peak summer months, parking in Sant’Isidoro, Puglia can be tricky due to crowds, but with a few local tips you can usually find a spot without stressing out.
The village is small, but it offers several parking areas—both free and paid:
- Free parking: in the inner streets of the village. If you arrive early in the morning, you can find free spaces—ideal if you plan to spend the whole day at the beach.
- Paid parking: along Via Torre Lapillo and close to the sea, there are large areas marked with blue lines. Prices vary, but generally stay under €1 per hour. In summer you’ll also find private lots with a daily rate.
- Private supervised parking: several beach clubs and restaurants offer reserved parking for customers. If you’ve booked a lido, it’s worth asking in advance whether parking is included.
A local tip: avoid parking illegally or blocking driveways. Checks are common in summer, and a fine can ruin your day. If you’re visiting in peak season (July and August), try to arrive by 9:30 a.m. to secure a convenient spot close to the beach in S. Isidoro, Lecce.
